Dynojet Racing is the fastest-moving team competing at the top level of British motorsport, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Built around a rising star of the series, Frank Wrathall, Dynojet Racing found success in sports car racing before accelerating into the fast lane of the BTCC in 2011. Now it plans to deliver even more success in the coming season.
The team’s springboard to the BTCC was Frank Wrathall’s crushing championship victory in the BTCC-supporting Ginetta G50 Cup sports car series in 2010. Promotion to UK motorsport’s ‘premier league’ swiftly followed, Dynojet Racing taking advantage of the new ‘Next Generation Touring Car’ rules to pioneer the introduction of a car new to the BTCC, the built-in-Britain Toyota Avensis.
Despite the huge leap for driver and team, the results and media exposure have flowed. Podium finishes in the second half of the season, wins in the Independent drivers category and valuable live TV exposure on ITV4 have catapulted Dynojet Racing and Frank Wrathall into the limelight.
That success has not been achieved by accident: behind the victory laurels and podium smiles lie many hundreds of hours of workshop and test track toil by the team, under the direction of Frank Wrathall Snr and touring car chassis engineering legend Paul Ridgeway.
With the rest of the BTCC field set to run cars to the ‘NGTC’ formula from 2012, and with a year’s head start on their rivals, the Dynojet team is seeking podium-topping successes…
